Rainbow Families Annual Camping Weekend
For several years, Rainbow Families has organized an annual LGBTQ+ Families Camping Weekend, one of our most popular and loved traditions, typically held each Labor Day weekend.
Our camping weekends provide the opportunity for our children (and parents, too) to be around other families like theirs, in a safe and celebratory setting. No explaining, no code shifting, no wondering if they’re accepted based on their status or status of their family.
Our camping weekends include tent or cabin lodging options, meals, and a variety of activities for all ages such as boat rides, canoeing, hikes/walks, our Annual Family Dance, arts and crafts, rock climbing wall, archery, swimming, our Toddler Zone and much more.
Many of our programs are available and open to everyone – members of our community as well as allies. This weekend, however, is for us. Primarily, LGBTQ+ Parents (and parents-to-be) with children between very young until the mid-teens.
Keep an eye on our Calendar starting in June, which is when we usually open registration. Of note, we sell out each year rather quickly!
Even with registration fees, hosting this weekend represents a significant expense to Rainbow Families. We welcome corporate, grant, or foundation support to help us provide this incredibly valued, and needed, weekend for our families.
