As a smaller nonprofit organization, we offer numerous ways to get engaged, volunteer, and connect. And we are grateful for it.
As a small grassroots organization (with a very small staff), we depend on our incredible volunteers – perhaps you might help at a summer picnic, a Valentines Dance, our Camping Weekend or even our Annual Family Conference.
One easy way to engage is to follow our social media accounts. Instagram | Facebook | LinkedIn In fact, we post daily on our Instagram account – particularly showcasing the beauty and diversity of our families all across the country.
Do you have a skill you might donate for a few hours a month? Social media, Google docs, decorating, DJ’ing, photography/videography?
With Rainbow Families, you can rest assured that your efforts and volunteerism will have a significant impact. You can see it for yourself! #WeAreRainbowFamilies
Using the Member Directory, find other Rainbow Families members in your community; reach out (our system even allows messaging) and say hello! Arrange a coffee, a play-date with the kids, attend a lecture, hang out at a neighborhood park, celebrate a birthday, etc.
Take advantage of the closed Facebook Group (for current, dues-paying Members). This is Rainbow Families’ listserv and is the perfect way to ask questions, post milestones, vent, get recommendations.
Attending a Rainbow Families event (camping weekend, Great Wolf Lodge, Valentines and Halloween Dances, our Annual Family Picnic, local picnics, etc.) is the best way to meet other families and establish a richer sense of community. Don’t forget the benefits for our children of being among other families like theirs – which is so affirming for them at all ages & stages.
Attend the Annual Family Conference. Since 2003 this has been a cornerstone of Rainbow Families. Our Conferences allow attendees to connect on matters of interest to them either through workshops, the many networking breaks, our Resource Fair of LGBTQ+ affirming providers, incredible guest speakers, and community service awards.
Connect with LGBTQ+ affirming/competent services, health providers and more through our Provider Directory
